Role Overview:
As the Deputy Manager – Medical Billing, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimizing the medical billing operations. You will assist in managing the billing team, ensuring accurate claim submissions, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Your role will involve strategic planning, process improvement, and coordination with various departments to support the overall revenue cycle management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Assist in leading and managing the medical billing team, including training, mentoring, and evaluating staff performance to ensure high-quality billing practices.
- Billing Operations: Oversee the daily operations of the medical billing process, including claim generation, submission, and follow-up. Ensure timely and accurate processing of claims and payments.
- Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for improving billing processes and implement best practices to enhance accuracy and efficiency in billing operations.
- Compliance Management: Ensure all billing activities comply with healthcare regulations, payer requirements, and internal policies. Conduct audits and address any compliance issues.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Coding, CDI (Clinical Documentation Improvement), and other relevant departments to resolve billing issues and ensure accurate claim submissions.
- Reporting & Analysis: Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to billing. Prepare and present reports to senior management, highlighting trends, performance metrics, and areas for improvement.
- Problem Resolution: Address and resolve complex billing issues, including claim denials and discrepancies. Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.
- Customer Service: Ensure high levels of customer service by addressing patient and payer inquiries, resolving billing-related concerns, and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in medical billing or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical billing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of medical billing processes, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and interact with patients and payers.
- Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
